WEST OF SCOTLAND A LEAGUE - Two wins from two for Renfrewshire

Defending champions Renfrewshire signalled their intention to retain the league title for another year with a narrow 4.5 - 3.5 away win at Bishopbriggs over Glasgow on Sunday 5 October, to give them two wins from two in the five match series.

The match was played in a great spirit and went right to the wire Barry Hume beating Ronnie Clark, John Laurie losing to Michael Daily,Craig Watson beating Home club player Scott Wearing and Blair Dalglish winning against Willie Mc Millian to leave the teams tied at 2 - 2.

David Dickinson and Craig Pirrie beat Craig Morrison and Stephen Machin respectively whilst two new county players playing for Glasgow, J Brown (Haggs Castle) and Craig Anderson, beating David Mc Farlane by 1 hole and recording a half match with Craig Anderson respectively, which left Renfrewshire the victors by 4.5 - 3.5.

Stirlingshire, leading after a comprehensive win in week one, also maintained their unbeaten record with a 6 - 2 home win over Lanarkshire at Glenbervie, to stay at the top of the table after week two.

In the other match played on Sunday, Ayrshire bounced back from their opening day defeat by Renfrewshire to record a 5 - 3 away win at Windyhill over Dumbartonshire.
