WEST OF SCOTLAND FIXTURES - League venues and dates almost finalised

The dates and venues for the 2014 West Of Scotland Inter County Leagues, at Boys, Youths and A team levels are almost finalised.

Once the fixtures have been confirmed by all six areas, the full lists will be published here.

It has been agreed by all counties that no West Of Scotland matches will be played on 28th September this year, to avoid any issues arising due to the Ryder Cup being played at Gleneagles that weekend. There will be one match the week before the Ryder Cup, on 21 September, and the remaining four will be played on the weeks following, with the league scheduled to conclude on 26th October.

The West Of Scotland Boys Strokeplay and Matchplay Championships will be played this year at Kilbirnie Place Golf Club in Ayrshire from 7th to 9th July.

Entry forms and posters will be forwarded to Area Secretaries in due course and will also be available to download direct from this web page.

Representatives from all six Area Associations are scheduled to meet on Thursday 27th February at Sandyhills GC to discuss various aspects of the West Of Scotland Leagues and competitions.

WEST LEAGUES - Renfrewshire secure 12th successive title with win against Dumbartonshire


The 2013 West of Scotland Inter County Leagues were completed on Sunday 27th October with Renfrewshire beating their hosts Dumbartonshire by 6.5 - 1.5 at Kirkintilloch to secure the A League title for the 12th successive season.


At the third time of asking, the long awaited match between Dumbartonshire and Renfrewshire to see if DGU could stop the amazing progress of Renfrewshire winning the league for the 12th time in a row.

Unfortunately for the home side this wasn't the case. Played at a wet Kirkintilloch GC. both teams put in a sterling performance in the wet, cold conditions. 
 
Dumbartonshire never had the upper hand, but after the fourth game, Dumbartonshire had halved 2 games and lost 2 with the other 4 games looking likely to go to the final holes, giving Renfrewshire a slight  worry.
 
However the Renfrewshire players in games 5,6 & 7 all managed to win their games with the last game being halved.

 The win allowed Renfrewshire to edge out long time leaders Lanarkshire in the race for the title.
