Half way through the match things were not looking good for the home side and with seven holes played only team captain Ronnie Clark was ahead, with two further matches level and Stirlingshire ahead in the other five.
The leading tie pitches Scotland international squad members Matt Clark (Kilmacolm) and Graeme Robertson (Glenbervie). An eagle two at the 315 yard twelfth hole put Robertson ahead but it was Renfrewshire' Clark who edged through by one hole to take a point for his side.
Craig Pirrie was one down after nine but Richard Johnston found water at the tenth allowing Pirie to level the match and maintain the momentum to record a 3 & 2 win.
The match remained close throughout and with three ties left on the course, Renfrewshire required one and a half points for victory overall, though the advantage appeared to be with Stirlingshire whose players were all one up with two holes to play at that stage.
David Dickson (Bonnyton) gave Renfrewshire hope, winning the seventeenth and halving the eighteenth with Mark Hyslop (Glenbervie), for a half match, which let Stewart Watt (Old Ranfurly) become the hero of the hour for the home side, finishing par birdie to win the last two holes from Lindsay Blair (Grangemouth) for a one hole victory to give Renfrewshire the points needed to win by 4.5 - 3.5 overall.
